Call it product placement or call it 'local color', but the thing that really stood out for me in an Icelandic film I saw last week (a film called Wrestling, though actually it's called Bræðrabylta) was a milk carton on the table in a scene contrasting domestic comforts with domestic strife.
Is it wrong to want to move to a place because of a milk carton? Or simply because cows in this place go 'muu'? I have since learned, thanks to this article, that there is a whole milky world of Icelandic dairy products, some of which would appear to have no equivalent elsewhere.
