Is it just me, or is the skillful use of fluorescent lettering emerging as a design hallmark of the noughties? (And have we really reached the midpoint of the decade without deciding a decent name for it?) This particular lettering was captured in a salon on Beak Street in Soho. After hours, of course, when the glow is at its peak.
I must have walked past this shop window on the edge of London's Chinatown 500 times before, but only after capturing its contents in the screen of my digital camera did I spot its emotional power. What a load of junk, and yet... just try looking at it all for more than a couple of seconds without experiencing a subtle and pleasing movement within the muscles in your face.
